• Santenay is located on the route des grands crus, in the southernmost part of the Côte de Beaune. Santenay is an appellation with a growing reputation.
• A very fine parcel in the most southerly part of Santenay, on soil that is more clayey than the combe de la Comme and extremely faulty, well drained thanks to the oolitic limestone and gently sloping, to the south-west of the hamlet of Saint-Jean and at the foot of the Mont de Cène. Maturation is often very good here, and the wines obtained are quite powerful and well-structured..
• Intense fruity aromas of redcurrant, plum and black cherry enhanced by notes of white pepper and kirsch. Nervous, fleshy and full-bodied, this wine has character and a fine structure. The finish is long and fruity, with a fine tannic structure. This is a wine with great ageing potential.
• Aged 100% in oak barrels for 12 to 15 months, with 20% new barrels of medium to high toast.
• An ideal accompaniment to the finest dishes, such as grilled red meats and game in sauce. It is best served at a temperature of between 16 and 17°C.
